Okay, since it’s a new year, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share my personal finance journey. And hopefully, my story and the financial tips I’ve learned will help you to improve your financial situation and hit your goals.

I’ve shared bits and pieces of my story in this blog post, here but I want to share a little bit more background on what lead me to change my habits and be completely debt free. No car lease, no nothing, and amassing a robust savings account.

My early years and money

My relationship with money throughout my life was both positive and negative. I have an independent spirit and at a young age, I’ve always loved having my own money and being in charge of it. Being in charge meaning what can I spend this on, today LOL.  I remember saving for my prom dress because I wanted a specific $300 dress my mom wouldn’t purchase for me. And I felt so good about buying that dress, knowing I did it on my own. So, I knew how to save and I knew I had to work for the things I wanted in life. read more

Long-haul Travel Must-Haves For Spain

December 13, 2018

long-haul-travel-must-haves-for-spain

It is the week before our annual holiday trip to Spain to visit the in-laws, so I thought I’d write a post about my personal travel must-haves for long-haul trips. Hopefully, it doesn’t sound like every other blog post, telling you what you should and shouldn’t pack and blah blah blah. But I’m not gonna lie, there might be a little bit of that. Hey, if it works, it works. I LOVE to travel to new places, gain inspiration, and meet new people; but I loathe the process of transport. It does not excite me in the least. It actually gives me anxiety. Yes, even with global entry, I want to pull my hair out. I find myself always rushing even when I have given myself plenty of time. So, here are my long-haul travel must-haves that help keep me a little more sane while trippin’ (specifically in colder climates).  read more

How To Kick Your Sugar Addiction When You Really Love Sweets

November 28, 2018

How To Kick Your Sugar Addiction by @itsjenniferrose

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I am addicted to sugar. They say the first step is admitting it, right? So, my current favorite dessert is the Huckleberry doughnut from Sidecar Doughnuts. I can taste the light, flavorful, huckleberry glaze draped over that perfectly moist cake doughnut. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I am truly a doughnut fiend. I love them. As well as cakes, cookies, etc. The list goes on. And then one day, I cut it all out, cold turkey.

Why? I have always been into health and wellness since I was a teenager (I blame my mom), and I get super obsessive when it comes to learning about and trying new things. However, I decided to give up sugar because of hormonal imbalance. My intuition told me to do some research on how to better manage my hormones. And the number one change I needed to make, according to damn near every single article and study I read, was to cut refined sugars completely. Not once a week or on the weekends. No, cut the crap. For real. This doesn’t mean I can never have  refined sugar, but it can’t be a regular part of my diet. It has to be what it is. A treat.

My Latest Discoveries

My latest discoveries @itsjenniferrose

Ooh chile, I can’t believe it’s already November! Let the mayhem begin. With so many things on the to-do list from now through December, we’d best practice meditation and try our darndest to be present to maintain a sliver of sanity. As much as I love this time of year, it makes me anxious as well because I am usually going a mile a minute. Who feels me? But instead of thinking about all of the obligations, shopping and mandatory family gatherings, haha, let’s talk about fun stuff. Here are my recent discoveries over the last few months from beauty to health and wellness. Check it out! read more

My Morning Routine and Rituals

October 19, 2018

Prom Dresses UK

I find that everyone has that ‘thing’ they do in the mornings to set them up for success. There are so many articles and videos on the morning rituals of successful people. I mean, countless! Although reading and viewing this material is a great way to get inspired, you do not need to follow every step of [name successful rich person here] to reap the benefits of having a successful day. It’s all about what will work for YOU, and ultimately bring YOU joy. Your morning ritual should not be a chore, it should be something you look forward to. Again, this will look different for everyone. And given your schedule or circumstance, maybe it is just one thing you add to your morning, and that may include taking five deep breaths and saying a prayer. And that’s great. There is no wrong or right way.

Personally, I don’t open any apps on my phone or look at social media for the first 30 minutes to an hour upon waking up, and I make sure I’m up before my husband to have my quiet time. This allows me to have full control of my morning, tune-in to how I’m feeling, maintain good vibrations (or create a path to good vibrations), and decide on what I really need to focus. Here is a list of my morning rituals to help me maintain my sanity and have a happy and productive day no matter what. I usually do 1-3 things from this list depending on how late I sleep in, LOL, or what I truly feel I need. I hope it inspires you! read more

My Fall 2018 Fashion Wishlist + Style Inspo

October 10, 2018

My Fall 2018 Wishlist + Style Inspo @itsjenniferrose

The temperature is dropping and It finally feels like fall in LA – my favorite time of year. Bring on the HOT Dirty Chai and long evenings. Fall fashion makes me very happy. I am excited to build layers, rock my many variations of black leather boots, and a vampy lip. And I’m ready for my mom to ask me why I wear so much black, LOL. For me, it’s the best time to express myself through style.

I already own a lot of great pieces from last year that I am excited to style again, but I am also looking forward to adding a few more pieces to refresh my fall wardrobe. I don’t believe in buying an entire new closet worth of clothes every season. I have pieces I love and wear year after year, so only a few items are necessary. Having less to work with allows me to be more creative with my personal style. So, check out what’s on my short list! read more
